London Championship
2007 London championship, combined with a drivers meeting in the afternoon managed to pull a decent field of cars including 612 Garry Sparkes!
With 36 cars starting the meeting this was going to be a busy night and also a few stoppages thru out the night.
The first heat only lasted a few laps until the red flags were brought out to clear the rolled Higgy of 23 Matt Carberry and also check that he was ok.
Once the race finally got going there was plenty of bumper work especially amongst the reds and superstars, but while all this was going on,it just left a clear track for 376 Steve Jackson to go on for the win, behind him see a fairly hard battle going on between 40 Steve Sutch and 36 Pip Williams with Pip burying Sutch hard on the pit bend and a little ramming session to begin which lead to some unrepairable damage and both be loaded up.
The second heat was also a lively start with early retirements for 454 Dave Pike who had damaged his front suspension once again after the first heat clash with a marker tyre.
This heat did settle down eventually with a fine win for 82 Gary Burch and Jacko getting up to second in this one.
The final was still a pretty open race, but still a lively beginning which almost see a roll for 376 Jackson early on.
The last part of the final was going to be a another classic finish with 60 Marjoram and 51 Aylward reeling in the leaders of 777 King and 2 Andy Collins, with these two battling past them only left Aylward a few laps to deal with Marjoram but with the 2 lap board ready Marjoram slowed and pulled of with a broken half shaft,so it left another final to Aylward to claim the 2007 London Championship,to go with his current best in britain title and making it on the roll of honour twice now,the last time being in 2002.
Once again the Superstox put on a great show and also 3 different winners on the night whick leaves the 2007 World being fairly wide open at the moment.

Wimbledon Stadium 25-02-07
This was the first round of the Safari sponsored series,so this pulled in a few more cars and first timer of 169 Mitchell Mills in the ex86 Bradbury/HCD.
The first heat started of being wet and once again 454 Dave Pike made use of his red grade and was quick through the traffic, with some early battles with the other star graders the race finally finished with Pike 454 taking the win, followed by 416 Smith,69 Brooker then 51 Aylward.
777 King and 540 Wesbroom both finished behind the star graders,King was pleased with this result especially after his last visit to Plough Lane and a trip to casualty!!!
The second heat started to dry slighty but still caught a few out.
565 Smith made a good start in this one but further back there were some bumpers trading paint with 416 Smith,376 Jacko and 51 Aylward swopping places each lap with some hard hits going in on all three.
Final result finished with 565 Smith taking a clear win from 416 Smith,51 Aylward getting the better of Jacko in fourth.
Once the final had started, there was a much drier line appearing.
565 Smith and 777 King made the running to start with and was well clear of the others, but once the race settled down 51 Aylward was on a real charge and pulled away from the other stars.
Just past the halfway mark nobody looked like to catch the leading two of Smith and King but Aylward was making no work of the traffic and was soon on them.
Once the lap boards were out Aylward was passed these two and had a clear run to the flag,King ended a good night with second followed by 565 Smith.
With the first round done, there was already a close margin on points with several top drivers a few points apart.

Ipswich Foxhall Stadium 10-02-07
Quite a few cars made it out for this early season Ipswich, with half a dozen new cars present which were 219 Stu Thompson with his new Titch Gardner creation,9 Andy Gould in another HCD,777 Henry King in his Nec machine plus a handful of newcomers making their debut meeting,31 Jon Pooley,336 Glen Stittle,484 Nigel Reed.
1st Heat started of quite lively with 777 King getting a good start from the front of the blues and making the running while towards the back of the grid the star names were beginning to come thru with the likes of 416 Smith,51 Aylward and 376 Jacko being the main ones making any progress.
With the laps running out 416 Smith had caught and Passed King then disappearing into the lead by quite a margin with King holding onto 2nd from Aylward .A Carcraft 1-2 was the final result with King slowly grabbing some more points for the red roof to follow shortly over the next few months!
2nd Heat started of the same but King didn't get the break he was looking for and was given a tough ride to begin with which allowed the star graders reel him in quicker, which lead him to fall down the places.
Smith once again did well to adjust to the wet and slippery conditions and drove away from the rest of the superstars, but 482 Cooper and Aylward wasn't to give up yet and were near enough to give him a run for his money with some good bumper work going on,but the laps were running out and Smith and Cooper made some space between them and Aylward.
With all eyes on the leading two the last lap board came out and Cooper closed the gap on Smith and then produced the classic last bend lunge but only to make light contact on Smith and put himself into a spin, this left a distant Aylward claim 2nd followed by Jacko.
The Final was expecting a hattrick for 416 Smith, but he was dealt with early on by a combination of Jacko and 69 Brooker and taken out of the running.
Once again the track was still slippery which caught out many on set up and tyres, but the pace was still fast and didn't stop the bumpers from going in!
The race soon settled down with a few retirements on the way,but it was 182 Mike Walmsley who took up the running and drove well to win on his local track with 376 Jacko in 2nd and King almost lost out to Aylward on the last bend but did'nt quite make the right contact and lost 4th to 454 Pike then just claimed 5th.
Another new car for this meeting was the No. 60 car of Marjoram who finished 7th in the final after starting of the back of the grid in the final.
One person who normally flys in these conditions is 612 Sparkes but did'nt get in the flow of things for this meeting and was lapped in the final by most of the front runners!!
All in all another good meeting from the superstox considering the conditions and also good to see some different winners again.

Wimbledon Stadium 28-01-07
Only 20 cars made it out for this meeting with quite a few drivers still not got their cars finished from the winter revamps and also Cooper and Carberry away in the South Africa tour.
The first heat still produced some hard racing with early casualties for 40 Sutch,454 Pike and a bent steering rack caused 376 Jackson to retire too.
After a massive lead thrown away by 82 Gary Burch, this left 182 Mike Walmsley and 69 Shaun Brooker to swap places with 51 Colin Aylward closing in,but run out of laps so the eventual winn er was 69 Brooker.
The second heat saw,82 Burch get away again but only to spin out in the same place on the score board bend,Also 376 had a spin on turn 4 at the start of the race, from this point he was on a mission and did well to get back to second behind the winner of 123 David Miles jnr and 51 Aylward in third.
The superstox final started of on a wet and oily track after the bangers, which caught a few out to begin,376 Jackson was quick of the start again passing Brooker and Aylward, but Aylward managed to get back pass Jacko and open up a small gap, whilst this was going on 454 made an early break from the front of the reds and get into the lead.
Jackson then caught 51 Aylward and fired him into turn 1 enough so he couldn't make contact on the next bend and continued on his way to catch Pike, but the laps had run out and 454 Pike claimed yet another win at Plough Lane with Jackson in second and Aylward finishing of the night with a hattrick of third places.
Hopefully Ipswich will pull in a good field of cars in 2 weeks with new cars/drivers having their debut for this year.
Considering only 20 cars, Wimbledon was quite an entertaining nights racing once again.

Congratulations to 482 Jason Cooper on winning the title once again!!
Not too many cars appeared for this one with possibly a few bad heads and also some new cars beening finished of for the start of this season.
454 Dave Pike taking full advantage of his recent loss of the Best in Britain title
and starting back in the red grade to take the two heats then after a puncture for Jackson in the final,
this left Cooper to take up the running and winning the final, where he always goes well in the wet conditions.
Only 20 cars made the meeting line up but with a few new drivers and cars getting ready,
expect the numbers to creep back up to 25/30 over the next few meetings..!!

28-11-2006 Superstox Best in Britain Wimbledon Stadium 26-11-06
31 cars made it out for this years Best in Britain,
with title holder 454 Dave Pike being a favourite for the final with his current form just lately following his bad luck from the World final.
The first heat started off fairly lively straight away,
after 177 Michael Mallett collected the back straight fence which brought out the reds and a complete restart.
Once the race got under way there was plenty of bumper action through out the race with 136 Pip Williams being launched into 376 Steve Jackson care of 24 Jon Palmer,
but while all this was going on 51 set off after 710 Kev Mallett for the win but run out of laps,so 710 ended up winning the first heat.
Race 2 was also a lively race to start off with and didn't take the star men long to reel in 710,
the first being 69 Shaun Brooker in the ex217 car of Rob Perry who was finishing off the race at a very fast pace.
This heat also saw retirements for 482 Jason Cooper with a blown engine,so 69 was the eventual winner,376 710 416 and 51 followed.
The Best in Britain final was lined up with an unpredictabe winner in amongst the grid.
After a few busy laps at the start,69 was on a mission once again and followed 376 and 51 through the pack with 60 and 454 not far behind,
but once Brooker had got by 51 then 376,Jacko left no time and fired Brooker into the pit bend which sent 69 around and out of the running so this then left Jacko on a charge for 58 Luke Hamilton,
but also coming through was 51 Colin Aylward who always makes the move for the last part of the race.
The laps were running out and Jacko was in the lead approaching the back markers of 73 and 717,with the last 5 laps left Aylward was going in with the hits and Jacko was still holding on
until Aylward came in with the big one and sent Jacko off line enough to leave a few cars gap between the two.
Aylward finally crossed the line to become the Best in Britain champion for the second time, the other being in 2002,
runner up was 376 Steve Jackson and third was 136 Pip Williams.
Once again the Supers produced a very lively evenings racing, also with a few new faces of 354 Ian Sturt and 717 Marcus Bicknell to help increase the future grids.
A get well soon message goes to 777 Henry King after braking his (nail) wrist which lead to a nice trip upto Kings Lynn hospital for an operation and a short rest from racing.

19-11-2006 Superstox vs Brisca F2 Northampton International Raceway
The day started of with plenty of crowds gathering in the pits, mainly round a certain 218 car,
with many people wondering weather the likes of Jackson,Smith and co could stand up to the hard hitting F2 boys!!
The meeting started of with a grand parade just to show the crowd who was who with the first race kicking of,
the Spedeworth boys won 2 fairly easy races with 51 Colin Aylward and 376 Steve Jackson getting the score sheets going nicely for the superstox.
There was plenty of contact to follow in the next few races, especially some south west drivers of sx11/24 falling out with 667 Tim Farrell and 247.
The last races of the first session were mainly won by the F2's which made the scores slightly to there advantage,
then there was a Saloon race which allowed both parties to repair and alter the cars.
The second session started with the F2's winning by a small margin but Spedeworth kept coming back with some wins for 482 Jason Cooper and 51 Colin Aylward,
these wins were helped by some nice kiwi tactics from the superstox boys.
During the afternoon there was quite a bit of team racing going on which both team captains advised, this lead to some hard hitting, good, entertaining racing.
In one race 218 pulled of one of his last bend dives to prove to the crowd that he hadn't lost his touch which 454 Dave Pike wasn't expecting to come thru for second place.
with the last races now finished and some rather tired looking cars, the F2's had won the event so both teams had a parade lap and some hand shakes which is what it's all about.
The next 2 races which were ment to be mixed was split into each formula because of the damage and scores to settle.
So the F2's had there heat where 218 Rob Speak showed he still had the pace by following 667,103,676 thru until the engine let go on the start finish straight,
which caused a multi car pile up including 511 Martyn Coles,152 Mick Sworder and 38 Dave Polley.
once the track was cleared the race got under way and was one by 183 Mark Guinchard.
Next out the superstox had there heat, which had some battles going on with 24 Jon Palmer,136 Pip Williams and 40 Steve Sutch bouncing each other of the wall!.
eventual winner was 51 Colin Aylward, this was his fourth win of the day and finished of a very good days racing with plenty of thoughts going into next years rematch!!
Brisca 1-Spedeworth 0 but many surprised on how close the performance of each was, except the tyres and softener used on the F2's
